Excellent Advice...A Must Read for ANYONE who is struggling with
weightReviewed by celinachel, 2010-03-04
I love books that really give you that AH HA moment, and make perfect sense. This book definitely fits that bill. It's filled with great commone sense, and it's just straight forward. I am struggling with weight, and I have already lost 8 lbs but doing the No S. I love it. And I am not depriving myself of anything, and I actually feel so much better, with more energy. This is a book for those who are ready to finally do something about their weight loss struggle, without suffering through too much. This is the best book on weight loss I have ever read.
This Thing is a MiracleReviewed by Chris Black, 2010-02-24
I have tried pretty much every diet there is, from "low carb" to
"nothing but carbs" to medically supervised weight loss programs. I
have spent years and thousands of dollars trying to lose weight,
and ended up obsessed with food, binging all the time, and almost
going crazy from dividing foods up into "good" and "bad"
categories. Finally about to give up, I stumbled upon the "No S
Diet" online, and started it the very next day.
I really feel this is the key to ending my problems with food. You
don't eat anything weird, you don't eat huge amounts of one thing
and none of another, and you don't have to starve. All you have to
do is stick with a basic, normal eating plan that most of us over
the age of 25 grew up with: eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Don't
have seconds, don't snack, and don't eat sweets. On Saturday and
Sunday, if you want (and it's optional) you can break these rules
and have snacks or sweets. Obviously, you've got to use common
sense and not binge, but I like how this eating plans accepts the
fact that you probably can't always be 100% perfect, and it's ok to
eat something fun on special days like holidays or weekends.
Even if I never lost another pound on this plan (and I am losing
weight,) it would STILL be worth it for the freedom is gives to
people who've been "dieting" for years. Gone is organizing foods
into good/bad categories. Gone is going out to eat, or going to a
friend's for dinner, and having to order special "diet" food. Gone
is forcing yourself to eat bad-tasting foods you don't like,
because whatever diet of the week you're on says you have to. Gone
is the drudgery of counting calories, carbs, fat grams, or
whatever.
I honestly don't think this is even a "diet," in the sense we most
often think of one. It's a common-sense way of eating that anyone
can follow their whole lives without any problem. It's sad that
something as simple as "eat three meals a day and don't snack or
eat sweets" sounds revolutionary in today's "eat no carbs/all carbs
every two hours and only have organic raw veggies with no dressing"
world of fad diets, but getting back to basics like this is truly a
breath of fresh air. I cannot recommend this book, or way of
eating, highly enough.
Breath of Fresh AirReviewed by Lloyd W. Mcfarlin, 2010-02-20
Like many purchasers of diet books, I've gone through and tried several different variations of diets out there. Of course, many of them today tend to focus on the low-carb approach. I was pretty skeptical at first about reading any new "anything" diet but it didn't take long for me to realize that this book presents a very realistic and sensible approach to dieting. Just about everything I've read in it just seems to carry the ring of truth. Now I look back at all those low-carb diet books I have where the authors try to suggest that you can eat all the good food you want without feeling like you're on a diet. Those statements from the low-carb world are laughable now. I think that this is truly the first time I've found a diet that can actually live up to the claim that you won't feel like you're on a diet while you're on it.
What a simple concept!Reviewed by C. Hartman, 2010-02-08
So simple and it makes perfect sense. This is one easy diet to stay
on. It is more of a change of life than a diet.
A Great FoundationReviewed by P. Lyman, 2010-01-23
It is the simplicity of this book that makes it so special. I am a logician, and not unlike my mathematician cousins, I enjoy it when the solution to a problem is both elegant and simple. This book deserves such a description. Elegant and simple. Get it for that reason alone. You won't be sorry that you did.
